The Oasis - January 3, 2024

As we usher in the new year, the first Sunday in January is Epiphany Sunday. In the Gospel of Matthew, we read about the Wise Men who followed the star to find the newborn King. Their journey was one of dedication and deep desire to encounter the divine. The Magi, guided by the light of a star, reach the humble manger, presenting gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. This story symbolizes the fact that Jesus entered into the world in human form not only for the Jewish people, but for all humanity.
The season of Epiphany is a good time to reflect on the guiding star in our own lives. What lights our path? What draws us closer to the heart of God? Are there things we can do to be more intentional in seeking the divine presence? Epiphany is a good opportunity to examine our spiritual journey and to follow the light that leads us to a deeper understanding of Christ’s love and purpose for our lives.
My hope is that this epiphany might be a time of renewed faith, deeper understanding, and rekindling of the light within us. In the words of Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
Happy New Year,
Eric
