Children and Youth
First Parish seeks to provide a growing array of life-changing experiences for children and youth of all ages. Growth, learning, self-discovery, faith-formation, team-building, and relational skills are among the priorities of our varied ministries. Whether in diapers or getting ready for college, First Parish provides safe, caring, and non-judgmental space for children and youth to thrive as they feel out their place in the world.
Sunday School and Nursery
Children are always welcome in church during Sunday Worship. We do have nursery rooms downstairs if your family has need of them at any point. The service itself includes a children's message and opportunities for kids to be involved in liturgy. Children age 4 through grade 8 are escorted to Sunday School following the children's message for an active and engaging curriculum that involves multiple learning styles and keeps everyone on their toes!
Confirmation Class
Confirmation Class is offered regularly as-needed (typically beginning in February) for youth seeking deeper perspectives on God and the church. Pastor Dan leads a series of fun and thought-provoking group discussions and activities to help youth discover for themselves the role God might have in their lives, and the role they might have in God's church.
Youth Group
Youth from 5th - 12th Grade are invited to take part in activities, special events, and field trips that engage a variety of learning and social styles. Games, team-building challenges, spiritual conversations, and unique experiences abound. Youth are not required to be otherwise affiliated with First Parish.
Adult Enrichment
First Parish offers you spiritual growth opportunities through in-person gatherings, volunteer opportunities, special events, and inspirational emails! The pastors' blog puts an "Oasis" in your week, bringing relevant and relatable inspiration to your inbox every Wednesday. Meet new people and be of service through our various teams! Concerned about the environment? You can help with beach cleanups, etc... through our Creation Care Committee! Interested in helping the homebound? Bible Study
Bible Study runs September-May on Wednesdays at 9:30am via Zoom. We share the Bible verses for each upcoming worship, discuss the directions of the sermon, pray and touch base with how we see God at work in our lives. We meet in the Lounge in Fellowship Hall at 180 York Street.
Fellowship In Action
This group is often “out and about”. From dining out to garden tours to snowshoeing, there are events for all seasons. Already this year, participants experienced teas of the world, hand drumming, a wolf sanctuary, exhibits, and several restaurants! Check our calendar for Monday meeting dates and scheduled events.
Book Discussion Groups
There are several book groups held throughout the year.
